Threadneedle and Multiplied
Julian Page has asked me to make some new prints for Multiplied and I have been playing around with the image of Child soldiers.
I had already made several paintings on this subject for my recent solo show at Kings Place gallery and i wanted to try them in etching too.
Till now I have etched four different plates which will serve as a matrix plate and together with printer Sanju Matthew we have printed them on a variation of Chine collé grounds. That means that the edition of each plate (30 in all) will be an variable one which gives me the freedom to experiment on a wider scale.
In the meantime you can see one of my painting, Child Soldiers 3 which has been selected for in the Threadneedle Prize Exhibition.
Acquisitions: Just heard that the Ashmolean Prints & Drawings collection has through the generosity of their former senior librarian acquired 2 of my prints, Jael & Sisera 1 ( inspired by the wonderful Rembrandt drawing of that title in their collection) and Lot and his daughters 2.
film/interview: Thomas Voelker, a Berlin artist has made a short interview/art film in response to my recent solo show, titled Postcards from the edge which you can watch here.
